Have you ever put yourself in the position of a fire fighter, exterminator, or police officer? Those are the jobs I would never want to do. In the past, I’ve worked at Romano’s Macaroni Grill, God Sent Care Center (Elderly Home), Target, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Baby Gap, and volunteered for the child keeper at my church. At Romano’s Macaroni Grill I was a hostess and it required a lot of patience. Customers were always in a rush to eat with the wait being 30 to 45 minutes. Never had to think so much about putting my life at risk like a fire fighter would. I couldn’t see myself perpetrating as a fireman and running into a burning building with my life flashing before my eyes. Of course I would leave out of that building (if I made it) with the excitement and thought that I saved a few lives but my heart and mind would go through trauma thinking of what could happen. Police officers risk their lives and their family’s lives every day. If I was a police officer, I would have my family move every month. The thought of gun shots or gun play scares me. My family and kids, if I had any, would have to worry about the things that can happen to me. I couldn’t go around and witness deaths and trials that occur on the day to day bases. Something I learned by working in some of the places I’ve worked compared to police officers and fire fighters is to not take your life and what you have in it for granted. They put their selves in uncomfortable positions and sometimes die because it’s simply “their job”. Try putting yourself in a position where you are most uncomfortable. Would you risk your life?

I can relate to you when customers are in a rush and being rude.
ReplyDeleteI can relate because I did volunteer at Antioch Convalescent Hospital, but I didn't change diapers.
