Approaching internship is very nerve racking. Some of the skills that I anticipate using is maintaining my professionalism and applying the technical skills that I have learned. I am in the IT field of work so I will be sharpening the skills I’ve developed here at Year Up and I will also learn outside of school to catch up with the way the culture is at my internship. Some of the questions that come across my mind as I approach my internship is what the culture will be like and how will I fit in with other employees or interns there. I wan tot be able to learn and be active on what I learn. I want to be able to speak with interns and employees and be comfortable in asking questions about what I don’t understand. I hope to work in an environment where we are very casual but know how to maintain professionalism. Cultures this calm moves at a fast pace for me. Even if I was to be in a face paced environment, I will still be able to work under stressful conditions. I think I will have a strict manager based on the current history and reputation my internship company has. I would think he/she would have to be on top of things as well as everyone under the manager. Learning new technical languages and skills is a must in my lane and I hope to gain more knowledge working there. I plan to stand out at internship by being “professionally outspoken”. Professionally outspoken means that I can express my ideas and creativity in a professional way. I am creative when it comes to bringing something new to the table so this can make me stand out more. I have plans to build wherever I am hired at and excel to a higher position after internship. Hopefully I am hired on at where I’m placed.
